A little more welcomed publicity this week! Our little project has made it to the Griffith News! Photo shoot for that happening today!
Just a quick reminder... PLEASE contact us if you want to drop off some books, or would like us to pick some up from you! If you don't have any books, please consider donating a dollar or two so that we can purchase some suitable books on your behalf. You are welcome to fill out a label to insert into the book to recognise your gift :)
We will be counting all the books we have so far next week, and let you know how close we are to those 2000 hopeful, life-changing books!

A group of 3rd year Education students, inspired to put their Indigenous Studies learning into action through sharing the joy of literacy with Indigenous communities around South-East Queensland... so... won't you share a book with us, and help encourage the love of literacy with our beautiful Indigenous kids in rural and remote communities?

Whoo Hoo! Book donations are starting to come in, and it's wonderful to see people getting behind this project with their friends!
On another note, we had a bit of an interview and photo-shoot with the Gold Coast Bulletin yesterday! Huge thanks to Naomi for organising that bit of publicity!

Share a Book Project is launched!
Hi everyone! Many thanks to the awesome people who have supported this little project thus far. We launched our project during our Indigenous studies presentation on Wednesday 7th September - which happened to also be Indigenous Literacy Day! We would like to acknowledge that we were inspired to act by the "share a book" events initiated by the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation for Indigenous Communities. We though it was a great idea too, and wanted to see literacy promotion in action!
So what's it all about?
We are collecting good quality, pre-loved and new children's books to share with rural and remote Indigenous communities. We plan on this project taking about 8 - 10 weeks to achieve, and we hope to have over 2000 books to distribute if possible! If you don't have books to donate, we are accepting small donations which we will use to purchase books from second-hand Charity shops around the Gold Coast - so it's a win-win situation for them and us!
Books can be dropped off at Griffith Uni Gold Coast Campus in G30 (Level 2, Assignment Dropbox #13), or you can contact us and one of the team can arrange to collect them from you. How about you organise your friends and family to donate some books as well, and we could pick them up from you at the same time?
We will use this blog to update you with news and events, where the project is up to, and a tally of how many books we've collected, and anything else that we find remotely funny or interesting about this journey along the way!
Thanks for following us, and please share this project with your friends! If you want to contact us, please email: shareabookproject@gmail.com and one of the team will get back to you.
